The design concept of the Haimen Vanke Jadeite is inspired by the "Love Poetry, Elegant and Natural" aesthetic. This project integrates elements of Haimen's past, present, and future, resulting in a space that not only narrates the city's history and culture but also introduces a new possibility of design. The project's unique properties lie in its large-span, high-scale spatial characteristics, which are coupled with the history of the Millennium Sea Gate and the prestige of the Jadeite.
The design realization technology used in the project is noteworthy. The elegant marble coffee table, paired with a casually placed soft stool, subtly reflects a relaxed modern lifestyle. The modern charm of the soft furnishings, combined with the blue of the fishermen's life scenes, enriches the depth and content of the space.
The project spans a total of 2000 square meters. The VIP room and the children's area are extended on both sides of the central axis, visible only through the floor-to-ceiling glass partition on one side. This design provides independent privacy while maintaining internal and external connectivity, enhancing the visual scale of the interior space.
The large-scale staircase, a key element of the design, rotates upwards, silently emphasizing the fusion of contemporary art's freedom and the promotion of future life. This design was created in Haimen, starting in March 2018 and finishing in August 2018.
Wally Mau faced several challenges during the design process. One of these was the re-development of familiar elements into an unknown field, which required a creative approach. The designer chose to inherit the spatial layout of the traditional four-in-one courtyard and implant the temperament of the Haimen Cultural Museum. This approach resulted in a unique blend of the "order" of time and space and the "potential" of space.
Wally Mau's Haimen Vanke Jadeite is a testament to the power of design in connecting senses with emotions. Through the diversification of modern technology, the design interjects visual, touch, smell, taste, and sound into each space, aiming to achieve the viewer's consciousness recognition and provide a fresh experience. This design, which won the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020, is a shining example of the potential of blending traditional and contemporary elements in architecture.
